What IS an Organic/Holistic Facial... and Why Should I Care?

February 20th, 2012 • Posted by Providence Hogan • Permalink

You might not believe this but I have tasted every facial product on the shelves at the Providence Day Spa. Well, except for the glycolic peels, but that would be seriously gross. And no, I don't recommend you do the same.

What was I thinking?

I was thinking that I would not put on my skin anything that I would not taste (in small quantities), nothing that would damage my digestive system and certainly nothing that would leech important vitamins and nutrients from my skin.

If a skin care product has chemicals I wouldn't eat, why would I want put it on my skin. Not for me and certainly not for the clients and staff of Providence Day Spa.

Most other skin care lines use ingredients that are "cosmetic grade". All of our products include ingredients that are food grade or pharmaceutical grade. We believe your skin is a living, breathing organ. It is your most important immune system defense. Your skin needs natural cleaning, conditioning, repair and maintenance.

Not only are our products effective and results oriented in the short term, but they improve your skin in the long run.

You can look online for a list of ingredients to avoid putting on your skin, but it might be easier to look for skin care lines that you can trust and come to a spa whose philosophy simply does not include these ingredients.

Next week we will talk about the perfect facial experience...

Don't worry, I am not eligible to win the sweepstakes, I know it can be hard to be the first one up. So here is my story. I was managing a store in Manhattan in my early 20's when my boss hired a new employee without telling me. I immediately stuck this new interloper in a corner until I could talk to my boss and figure out what to do with this new employee. It took hours, while he sat there and waited, patient as can be. Over time, he and I became friends and our falling in love came as a surprise to the both of us. We kept our relationship a secret for a long time just because it was more fun that way. Prov

it took me a long time to get Audrey's attention. it wasn't until we were engaged that i realized that she used psychology on me, and how intelligent she really was... Stephen Negron

Our story goes back 8 years. My husband and I both met at medical school on the second day of orientation. We were both dating other people at the time (but even though we went to different colleges- we knew a lot of the same people- it really is a small world!) During medical school we ended breaking up with our respective partners and we were good friends. He developed feelings for me, but he was such a good friend that I never realized that he was interested (I thought he was just being the good friend he was). We ended up going to residency at the same program. We would have a ritual of driving to our clinic every Wednesday. Finally, during our third and final year of residency we were on our way to clinic and found out it was canceled. we decided to go hang out in Prospect Park. There he finally told me that he liked me. I turned him down (I was dating two other people that were from the same background- religious, cultural etc. which are things in my culture that are important and I thought my parents would never accept someone from a different background). We somehow remained friends. A few months later I was going to go volunteer in a hospital in Lesotho for a month, and he decided to come along. After spending a month with him side by side in an environment where people are really sick and in limited resources... I realized that this is who I wanted to be with. Forget what my parents thought, it's really more about what the person is like than their growing up background. I thought I had ruined my chance of being with him (there is no way that someone could be that patient). But- on our way back, somewhere over Rowanda I told him how I felt and we have been happily married now for 2.5 years. Oh- and the parents, they *love* him! Don't be afraid to be with the person you want to be with!
